Beauty: New in

I have done a lot of experimenting when it comes to skincare ever since I moved here in the States. It was easier when I was in the Philippines because I was familiar which brands worked for me.
Im happy with my current skincare routine but every time I see products being raved about on YouTube I end up buying what they talk about in the hopes to get good results too.
Here are a few that I picked this month

Outfits: October Looks

October was quite a challenge for me.I fought a one week battle with fever and hormonal imbalance causing me to break out like there is no tomorrow. Of course my craving to eat dairy after my trip to New York did not help. My skin is pretty easy no dairy no acne, so if you see one its because I was bad and had Twix or ice cream. I have been trying to eat healthy, so glad to now have a Trader Joe's close by. I think my skin purged too because I am not used to this kind of lifestyle. Im taking it slow.
I stopped getting Starbucks and switched to drinking coconut water
Its still too hot here in South Florida to layer

Beauty: Drugstore Finds

Hi Lovelies I am so glad to be back. I took a break from blogging because I was just too tired with my schedule for September,I needed to relax and take things slow. I did several adjustments to my site and Im happy with the end result. A few weeks ago I went shopping for new make up I just wanted to feel that its fall, impossible for Miami weather so I was just going to change my lip color and add some more eyes shadows to my collection. Ever since I bought my Benefit Rollerlash Mascara I havent shopped for any new mascara so I did try to get a different brand.

Wishlist: Shoe Shopping

Yeah I know Fall is coming I should be looking at boots, instead here I am flipping through site after site shopping for flats. They are just the most comfortable shoes EVER. Why would I want to give myself a hard time walking in heels getting blisters when I can rock an outfit with flats.
Which should I buy?

Update: My laptop was fixed the night I was complaining it crashed. Hubby to the rescue!
And oh I just turned 31 last Saturday (September 5). It was awesome! (Thank you to my family here and everyone back home who made my day extra special) I had some bad news though since the letter for my citizenship got lost in the mail Im going to have to reschedule my appointment. Shrug! Oh well at least we found it and I still have time to reschedule before it became a void application. Pwew! (Always look on the bright side)

Outfits: Pre Fall

Just by checking the shopping sites I can already feel that everyone is getting ready for fall. Visited a few stores this week too and saw that majority on display are fall colors.  If you are from South Florida, Im sure you are anxious to feel the cooler breeze, but we wont get that until mid November unfortunately. (Counting the days)

Giving you a guide today of what's best to buy during this season.

Update about me:Sorry if  I havent been posting lately  I needed to sort out a lot of things and I am also reviewing for my citizenship test. I will be posting more skincare/make up reviews. I have the drafts I just need to edit them.

Outfits: July Favorites

July was indeed a fun month. I got the chance to go to the Versace Mansion for Miami Swim Week
(people pay for dinner to see the place, got mine for free, saved around $200).  I will have a separate post on that and show you my Swim Week adventure. Meanwhile here are my most recent outfits.

Im all about flowy pants for summer, they are so comfy to wear! It almost feels like Im wearing a skirt. Its easy to pair it with a lot of things too which is a bonus. I have switched from buying designer sunnies to Forever 21 ones, they are so adorable and inexpensive. I do not have to worry if in case I lose them during a trip (not that heartbreaking).

The second outfit is my most favorite because I can wear it during the morning for a stroll or at work with blazer and heels.

How cute is this suede skirt? I was not quite sure how I would style it but I found my old printed tee and decided to play around with my sneakers.

Fashion: Designer Sale Fail

My calendar was marked even before the department stores started posting on IG about their sale. I avoided the websites because I was gone for more than a month and did not want my husband to deal with returns if I end up not liking my purchase. After dealing with jet lag for several days I finally had the energy to scout the mall and viola I found these! Much prettier in person!

I swear they did fit right at the store and when I got home after hearing my husband's comments about them I had doubts and started to feel that he was actually right. Im really bummed out!

I prefer to not pay FULL PRICE and this was a score why cant it fit?!?

Travel: Philippines

Hello lovelies.  How are you all doing?
It's the second week of my vacation here in the Philippines. I want to update you what's going on and all that stuff.  I over packed so I ended leaving my laptop. My luggage was full of pasalubong, I had to remove several heavy things.  I pre recorded videos for my You Tube channel hoping that I can use them as fillers while I'm on vacay. I will upload them as soon as I get back.  I have a haul,  a product review and a what's in my travel bag.
Since I arrived I have been binge eating not gonna lie. Nothing beats authentic Asian food.  I really wish I can stay longer.  I'm trying to stretch the next two weeks. It's almost over (sigh) but I'm really glad to see friends and my family.  I consider myself lucky that I am able to visit them at least once a year.
I will have another post about this trip with photos.  For now that's it.  Happy June everyone!

Beauty: What"s new?

I was looking for travel containers earlier at Bed Bath and Beyond and although I try to avoid this section I feel like it calls my name every time. I have better self control now and ended buying only one thing. Can you guess which one?

Personal: Bye April

Wow did not realize I only had two posts for April. Joggling my schedule with work and finishing my pasalubong shopping was quite challenging for this month. I finalized everything for my trip last minute that is why I am cramming. I was not planning to visit my family this year because I will be applying for my citizenship and one of the requirements is to stay in the US for a certain period of time. We don't know exactly if trips outside the country make an impact on the status of my citizenship. I read various stories online and each case is always different so Im just taking my chances. Some of my trips lasted for two weeks while some were close to two months.
I miss my family so much and decided to still go. I am so excited!

I have not been that active on social media either since there is just too much going on and I want to concentrate on this. Here are several shots that I took for this month. I will try to post more for May.

Beauty: VIB Rouge Event

When I received my discount card from the mail I got super excited. Wohooo 15% off.

I just love trying new make up and skincare. I kept looking at the Sephora website deciding which to purchase at the event, I rarely shop online because I like trying and seeing the actual product.
Then this happened.

These espadrilles are the most comfortable I have owned. I have tried Chanel, Valentino & Gucci.

Personal: Some me time

Besides rewarding myself with shopping sprees when I have accomplished a goal I also enjoy going to the spa to get a massage.

The Red Door Spa is 15 minutes away from home so I decided to get a 50 minute massage. I usually hesitate spending $100 on a massage since they are inexpensive in Asia but I don't mind paying the price at all if the experience will be great and if service is good.

As you enter you will see the hair and nail salon, you will then be greeted at the receiving area. The host will lead you to the locker room. Everything is well kept, clean and spacious. After changing to your robe you will be asked to fill out a form and the massage therapist will call you once the room is ready. I drank lemon water while waiting. I was finally called by my massage therapist. I was asked what kind of oil I want it was nice to hear there was unscented. not a big fan of I just got a massage smell. The bed had heat which made the experience more relaxing since half the time I am cold while getting a massage. I had a great time and this is by far my favorite spa. I will be checking out more spas in the coming month and this was a great start!

I took several photos unfortunately I accidentally deleted them, waiting for hubby to get home hopefully he can recover them so for now I will be posting the one from my phone.

(Forgive my selfie)

Personal: Excited for Spring

Recovering from a cold while writing this post. Hope all of you are having a lovely Friday night.
Who else is excited for Spring? I have not even done my spring cleaning, how about you? I feel like I have so much stuff that I can sell to Plato's Closet.

Fresh Market is my favorite place to get flowers

Beauty: Current Skincare

I have been dealing with acne for the past ten years,it sucks but over time I was able to learn which ingredients or food can aggravate my acne. I played the game of trial and error for pretty much every name brand out in the market even home remedy treatments and none seemed to work.

I then decided to do more research, changed my diet and tried to manage my stress level better these steps clearly made my skin happier. For the past months I have been religiously using these products and have seen improvement on my skin. Hopefully this will help any acne sufferers reading this.

Origins Checks and Balances face wash is perfect even for those who have sensitive skin. I love that it hydrates my skin too, it is part of my morning and night routine. Once a week I exfoliate using Origins Modern Friction. I then apply my Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum, this targets hyper pigmentation. When I get cystic acne I use the Aesop Chamomile Anti Blemish Masque as a spot treatment. Lastly, I massage my face with Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation for extra moisture.

Personal: Valentine's Day

Hubby was so busy the entire week I did not even expect that he will find time getting me presents nor get a chance to celebrate it together. I barely saw him this week as I was busy getting ready for my supposedly NY trip and a styling gig.

Was not even sure if I was going to be around since I had plans of flying to NY for Fashion Week either Feb 13 and 14 / Feb 17 and 18 but plans changed. My outfits were all ready but the weather just turned me off. It is exciting to dress, layer, see all the amazing shows but I am afraid the same thing will happen to me just like last season when I got stuck there my flight was cancelled three times, it was not so bad since I was traveling with my mother in law. This time though I was planning to go alone. Up to now I am still debating whether I should go or not, hubby of course was a little upset for not buying my ticket sooner. I have attended the past two seasons and it has nothing but fun! This season would have been extra special because I had backstage passes, me being a behind the scenes person I love seeing where the magic happens.

I really wish they will move the dates, there is always a blizzard during Fall Fashion Week.

How about early March?

How was your Valentine's Day?

Outfits: #ootw

Yeah sure we all dream of having a closet full of designer pieces, in reality though only 1% of the population can afford this. Style to me does not really have a price tag. I have said this a million times to my friends that it is how you style your pieces.Do not get intimidated by social media. Confidence is they key. I remember having a conversation with a co blogger when she complimented my style, told me that with me she can never tell if I am wearing an all designer outfit, I always surprise people when I pair a Forever 21 with Chanel espadrilles. Stay true to your style no matter what.

Fashion: $100 Style Challenge

This year I promised myself to reach out to more people. I have been thinking about this new segment for my blog for about a year now and I kept postponing it. I was not quite sure how to do it since my concept was to make a random stranger happy (which can sound creepy) if you were that stranger being approached.

Yesterday I just decided to just do it since I thought it would be perfect for Valentine's Day. I wanted someone to feel special by styling and choosing outfits for this random person and pay for the chosen outfits. I was in the mall for about two to three hours just trying to see how to approach the situation and figure out a way how to sound less creepy. I was nervous and at the same time excited for the person I will pick. I was about to give up on the third hour, I have seen several people but I wanted someone who was alone and someone who looked like they needed help. After getting Starbucks I came across the same person that I have seen almost three times in different stores, decided to finally approached. She (Kimberly) told me she was so glad that I met her since it was "pretty obvious she did not know what she was doing" to quote her. She was looking for an outfit for an event that she will be attending that night. She picked 5 dresses. She tried them and I gave her my opinion about each of the item. To complete the look I told her we can start choosing shoes and accessories, she then asked if it was okay with me if she looked for another outfit skip the shoes and accessories since she already has shoes and accessories in mind for the dress. We then picked a romper and new sunglasses(she sat on her old ones). Mission accomplished. It was an amazing experience, best feeling when someone thanks you and you can tell how much they appreciate.

You are probably wondering why Im doing this? I just want to make a difference in my own little way, starting small and hopefully eventually it will open doors and will be possible to help more people.
.
Im not a writer my blog is mainly my journal and this is how I keep track of my progress, it will be nice to look back at some point in my life that I was able to make a stranger happy, takes so much courage to do it. I have dedicated myself to do this at least once a month. Styling is one of the things I am really passionate about, I love it when people ask for my advice, this is my way of giving back.

I am more than blessed. Excited for my next stranger. (BTW, it turns out we know somebody in common, small world)

Travel: Washington D.C

Hi lovelies.

The Blogger app which I find very handy in my older phone does not work for my new HTC Desire this is why Im left behind with blog posts. I tried several times but it seems bugged. Im now trying to use my Ipad for future posts since I prefer not to carry my laptop around.

I was in Washington for 3 days, renewed my passport since we do not have a Philippine embassy here in Miami which is strange. Looked into the embassy in Atlanta but they do not offer services for passport renewal. Did this very last minute and totally regret since I have travel plans in the next months, I could have done it when I visited Chicago for Christmas but I was so out of it.I planned of doing it in New York next week since I will be there anyway for Fashion Week but it seemed to be more convenient to do it in DC. They accept return envelope whereas in NY they prefer if you pick up your passport. Also found out it takes 8 to 10 weeks before I get it back. When I arrived at the embassy it was posted that it takes three months, so yes good luck to me if I will get this in time for my next out of the country trip. It has been crazy lately for work and styling gigs before flying to DC I was also busy doing pull out for a mall event this coming Thursday.

Since I was alone for this trip I was not able to take outfit photos only selfies and a few snaps of the places I visited. It is a lovely city, even though trees were dead and was mostly gray I still enjoyed learning more about American History. Cant wait to see Cherry Blossoms for my next visit.

Things to consider when visiting DC:

1. Location of your hotel. As much as I wanted to take the Metro it was difficult for me to walk several blocks especially because of the cold weather that is why I took cabs mostly. It was really nice that there were guided bus tours (Big Bus Tours), learned a lot just by listening to trivia while waiting for my next stop, they provided headsets. Staff were very friendly too. For one day's worth of touring the city I paid $48. Inexpensive versus paying cab rides which cost me usually $20 per trip depending how far Im going. (This is Raegan Airport to my hotel in Rhode Island)

2. Wear sneakers because you will do a lot of walking. There is a lot to see so be prepared for sore feet if you do not wear comfy shoes.

3. Not a lot of shopping areas. Im Asian and Im used to seeing several malls in a tourist area. There were a few that I visited like Georgetown and Pentagon City which carry several brands like Mac, Sephora and Banana Republic.

Beauty: Sephora goodies

In case you have not checked these new items on the Sephora website I would like to share my personal faves (on my wishlist)

How cute is this name for a skincare line? Drunk Elephant. The Marula oil is said to be better than argan oil which Im very curious about, also excited to try the soaps and serums. Some of the items are currently out of stock, try ordering through their website.

The Shiseido solution gel was formulated to help combat breakouts, reduce visible pores and help make the skin smoother.

I have a thing for highlighters and I have been eyeing on this Park Ave Princess Palette from Tarte. Perfect for travel, easy to carry around.

Fashion: New in

This year I see myself investing more in classic pieces. I purchased quite a bit last year but I do not just let my stuff sit in my closet as a display of some sort. The more I use them the more I feel I have gotten the value of my money.
Working in fashion made me appreciate the art of mixing and matching. Some days when Im in the mood I will go for an all out designer outfit and some days you will see me in a $5 top, boyfriend jeans and Valentino flats.
I really dont care, if I like something I wear it.

Trying new make up too, the new shade of my YSL Touche Eclat is in 3.5, it helps brighten my under eyes. I bought the Stila foundation since the SA said it gives medium to full coverage, it didnt work for me though, did not like the texture or feel of the make up. It felt sticky to me. Finally got my hands on the matte Tom ford lipstick I decided to get the shade called Pussycat and it is such a beautiful color. Cover FX primer is something new for me, I have seen it several times on the Sephora website but since I still have several primers Id like to finish I didnt purchase it right away. I used it this morning and I am liking it so far.

Personal: 2015!

For my first post of the year I want to give a shoutout to all of my readers. It's been amazing seeing people from all over the world. I never knew my life would be appealing to others, even surprising to get emails saying that I have inspired someone. Thank you so much for taking your time in reading my posts.
I started doing the blog as my way of remembering the journey (since I moved here in the US August of 2012). I then shared outfit ideas, showed where the great deals are and  featured products that helped with adult acne (love trying new beauty products).
There is still a lot to improve in this blog. Quality of photos and more content. It's a process and I know eventually I will get there.
This quote I found today is very appropriate for this blog post.
Cheers to the new year!
To the dreamer in us and hope we all achieve our goals for this year.
